The quality of Now products is well known and I ordered L-tryptophan from this brand first of all for calm and sleep. I did not need it for muscles or training, diet factor also is not my problem. Falling asleep with two pills was really effective. Did not use it in daytime so cannot tell about the energy it gives. The pills have rather big size and neutral taste. If my sleep will be improved I'll definitely order more. I examined many products with calming effect and Melatonin and Tryptophan are on the top of the list.
I started taking this according to the directions, but for the first three days I found myself inexplicably tired through the day. I looked it up, and found that tryptophan affects sleep. So I stopped taking it first thing in the morning, but kept taking the bedtime dose. It enabled me to sleep through the night without waking up at 3 am, amazing!
This helps me fall asleep quicker. That is what I wanted it for and it is helpful for that. For me I need to take it maybe an hour or a little longer before bed for the effect to be noticeable. Also I found I had to adjust the amount of capsules until I found an effective amount. These aren't cheap but I can honestly say for me they are helpful.
I have a father with dementia and he was waking up and wandering at night. I had tried different medications to make him have a good sleep and nothing has worked so far until I tried L-Tryptophan with melatonin. It has been fantastic. I give him one dose in the morning and two doses at night with melatonin. No more wandering or being hyper at night. Best of all it has calmed him through the day. I wish I had known earlier. I got the idea from two studies that I read randomly on Pubmed. Of course his doctor had never mentioned it. i recommend this product for people with sundowning and difficulties at night.
Great quality product. I take it close to bedtime and have experienced a significant benefit in how relaxed and sleepy I feel. As someone who has struggled with anxiety / falling asleep for years, this has been a lifesaver. Especially if I know I have a stressful day ahead of me, I might be overthinking for about half an hour before these start working and I can fall asleep quite easily. Love the large size so I'm stocked up for ages.
I am pretty much stressed during the last couple of years, so it started to influence me a lot. I have decided to give this one a try, to see if gets any better. I started using it alongside 5-htp... taking ashwagandha in the morning and 5-htp at bedtime. I don't know which of the two supplements worked out for me, but I definitely feel better, less stressed. It doesn't make me lethargic, I still get nervous, but it passes me without affecting me inside and accumulating and burning out. It's not a magic pill, effects didn't show until at least three weeks, but slow and steady improvement is better. I will experiment with other formulations to see which works better for me. now I'm well sleep i like size and great quality
This is good for the gentle approach to increasing Serotonin levels. Also make sure to support the gut with a good probiotic regimen. Also make sure to supplement with L-Tyrosine to increase Dopamine, as Serotonin and Dopamine are on the same axis and increasing only 1 drives down the other so it must be simultaneous admin. Tyrosine in the morning empty stomach. Tryptophan at night 2 hours after last meal.

Has helped with falling asleep, lowered my depression and anxiety and I didn't even take it for any of those benefits, in the first place!
