I used to have symptoms of hypothyroidism (swollen legs and fat gain on hips) due to consuming too much iodine. Did not realize that too much iodine affected my thyroid function. Since I removed iodine from diet, my symptoms were resolved. Taking selenium should support the thyroid function. I have not made any tests to prove benefits, but I feel well taking the supplement.
after taking it for two months i went to lab to check up my vitamin and mineral deficiency. My selenium level was really up. It did a great job. I have thyroiditis and have fluctuating Tsh levels. None of thyroid medicines(euthyrox,levohyroxine,thyrozol) helped me however it made my symptoms worse. after selenium supllementation my tsh level is stable and when i went to check on ultrasound of thyroiditis, doctor said your inflammation on thyroid became smaller than before
